USHERING

A Church usher is the first official representative of the Christian Church that anybody sees when they arrive and as such, plays an important role in making the people feels welcome to the service. We are the church “Doorkeepers” or “Gatekeepers” and makes the initial impression about the Church (2 Kings 22:4 & 1 Chr. 9:18-27, Ps. 84:10).

Our vision is in alignment with the RCCG mission to be an ambassador for Christ and discharging our duties honestly with the fear of the Almighty God. As a farmer prepares the soil for planting, so does an usher help prepare the proper environment that is conducive to a genuine worship experience and ministration of the word of God.

At the Ushering department, we see ourselves as a forerunner and our primary role is to prepare the church for the guests/parishioners by being the first to arrive at the church; receive order of the day from the Pastor; ensure the church is in proper condition to receive the guests/members; make ready the weekly bulletins with collection envelopes, and any other items that are to be distributed to the congregation during the service. We are responsible for the collection of tithes, offerings and other collections then delivering it safely and promptly to the Finance department. We also maintained accurate count of worshippers during our weekly services. We are the church missionaries through whom orderliness is maintained before, during and after the service.

Our commitment to the work of God (Eph. 6:7) and dedication to the RCCG movement (Eph. 4:11-12) is founded upon total submission to authority, effective prayers, respect for church members, humility, politeness, alertness in the spirit, boldness, support for each other, patience and longsuffering.

At RCCG Restoration Chapel, the Ushering department maintains alertness for any emergency that may arise during worship services and provides the proper assistance needed to calm urgent situations (Acts 20:28). Our dedicated members are equipped with the latest communication gadgets that limit distractions during services and also help maintain security of worshippers, guests and other church assets.

The Ushering ministry workforce at Restoration chapel have an estimate of about 36 members (both men and women) and the number continues to grow as the Lord constantly adds to His church. The ministry is blessed with good and dedicated leadership with spiritual covering from our Pastor-in-charge, Pastor K.B. Sanusi ably supported by his wonderful wife Pastor (Mrs.) Modupe Sanusi.
